Baby on the Move!

I can't believe how quickly little Nolan is growing and changing! On Valentine's Day, he decided to make it "official" and crawl like a big boy for the first time. Now, he's REALLY into everything! And, yesterday, on his 8-month birthday, he pulled up for the first time. He did it three times at Andrea's (our sitter), and then at home, too. When I went to get him out of his crib this morning, he was standing and smiling at me. He's so proud of himself.

He has two teeth in on the bottom, and it looks like four are coming through on the top -- one popped through yesterday.

What happened to my little baby?

Yes... he'll probably hate me for this someday

I just had to do it. When Waylon was a baby, I took him for his "angel" photos at Valentine's Day. So, how could I deny my youngest the same opportunity!? Craig thinks it's the worst thing I could do to my baby, Nolan... but, they're only little once, right? :)
And, at least I balanced it out with a few clothed shots. :)

A weekend in Owensville

I had a wonderful weekend with the boys back at my parents' house. We spent a lot of time just visiting with my parents and grandparents, and letting everyone enjoy the boys. I feel like we just never get the chance to be with them as much as we'd like, so we try to make the most of it while we're there!

Waylon enjoyed playing board games with Great-Grandma Couch, and we've discovered the new entertainment -- mom's self-powered vacuum cleaner. Waylon and Nolan were fascinated by it as it cleaned mom's kitchen floor. It's amazing what can bring the most excitement to little ones, isn't it!

Gumby is back!

Waylon was so thrilled this year to get a variety of Valentine's in the mail from the grandparents, great-grandparents, and Aunt Erika. He was especially excited to open the box from Great-Grandma Couch, which held Gumby and his friend, Pokey (I think??), and some marshmallow hearts, which he ate in entirety while Mommy wasn't looking. Boy, was he ever hyper that day! :)

Just like Daddy

The past week has been wonderful, in that we have sent our big February/March issue to the printer, and I can spend time with my boys again.

Goodness... are they ever growing up! Nolan is SO close to crawling. It cracks us up to watch him maneuver himself to get where he wants to be. Nothing is off limits in his mind, and everything goes straight into the mouth. He definitely keeps us on our toes!

Waylon amazes us sometimes with the little things he picks up from our conversations. The other night, he and Craig were playing tractors. He spread out all of the toys that Craig has collected since he was a boy -- red, green, blue -- tractors of all colors of the rainbow. Waylon was pointing out the Case IH, the John Deere, the New Holland. He then said it was time to sell them all at Birkey's. I asked him how much he'd sell them for, and he said, "$20,090." Daddy was proud -- Waylon seems to be a natural equipment salesman. :) Daddy then proceeded to auction off every tractor on the floor, which Waylon thought was pretty hilarious.

Saturday, Waylon and I had a "Mommy-Waylon" day, while Craig spent the day with Nolan. Waylon got a haircut, and we enjoyed lunch and ice cream together. While we were eating, Waylon looked at me and asked, "Mommy, why do you smile when you just look at me?" I can't help it. Being a mommy just makes me happy. (Most of the time! Ha.)

The beginning

Okay, I'm giving in. I have loved reading the blogs of friends throughout the past year, and I made it my New Year's Resolution to begin a blog of my own. So, I'm a month late. But, hey... I'm doing it.

My plan is it use this blog as a way to keep in touch with family and friends who are far away, and also to provide a place to record the events and special memories of me and my husband, Craig, and our two precious little boys, Waylon & Nolan.

So, in keeping with that thought, I just have to share the conversation we had with Waylon yesterday. Craig and I were discussing God with Waylon before church. Waylon said, "Did you know God lives up in the sky, just like Jack & the Beanstalk?" Craig said that God is with us all the time, and he can see us all the time -- even through roofs and walls. Waylon asked, "Does God wear glasses?"

So sweet.
